Photo Services for Models
Great, clean headshots are key to successful career in commercial and print modeling, and so are natural, lifestyle images. They have to give your agent a clear idea of what you looke like (minus skin blemishes and fine lines), without 'glamorous' make up, unusual outfits and uncomfortable angles, to say nothing about drastic photoshop filters sometimes applied by photographers to enhance 'artistic value' (read: unusability for commercial purposes). Your headshot has to be a clean, clear, calm or naturally smiling image that shows off who you are as a model, so do your images for any comp hard that's supposed to land you commercial and print jobs. I am always happy to work with you for a reasonable fee, which will vary depending on your needs (setup, outfit changes, time required, number of images) and on retouching requirements. Email me with your location, schedule, and needs, and I'll be more than happy to help you.
I am also happy to work with you TFCD (your time as a model in exchange for a CD with retouched images; on average, you will get around 15 high res, completely retouched images per hour of your time) if you sign a release allowing me to use images as part of my stock collection. I specialize in outdoor, on-location thematic portraiture for stock (natural, lifestyle shoots, seasonal and holiday shots, etc) and am always looking for fresh faces to expand my stock collection. Of course, as part of a TFCD, for stock, photoshoot I am always happy to help you out with updating your comp card and your portfolio and working with you on headshots and lifestyle/on location shots that meet your specific neesd. So, if you are interested in updating your portfolio and if you are willing to spend about an hour of your time on an on-location mini-shoot, by all means, do drop me a line.
As a model, you will have an opportunity to choose images for retouching: shortly after the shoot (usually within 48 hours), I will provide you with a link to a gallery with all the images from the shoot, which you will have an opportunity to review and tell me which images you would like retouched.
If you are interested in a TFCD arrangement, please include in your email:
1. Your time schedule, whether you are available on weekdays/weekends, mornings/evenings, etc.
2. Some ideas about the prospective shoot. I like models to bring in something interesting and unique to the shoot. Tell me if you have any interesting/unique/fun outfits or props that we could use to build the shoot around. Alternatively, suggest a theme (for example, environment, gardening, back to school, urban lifestyle, music, etc), and we'll take it from there. Or, if you have hobbies or interests that can be useful for the shoot - tell me as well. For example, if you do yoga, we could build a photoshoot around that. If you are a musician and your musical instrument is portable - hey, give it a go!
3. A picture of yourself (any size or quality): I am asking for your picture to help me visualize a possible shoot/location/theme, and for that purpose only. You don't have to be size 0, certain height, age or race. But you do have to have positive attitude, great personality to work with and creativity to bring in to the shoot.
4. A specific theme/concept you are interested in working with me on.
Important FYI:
- Currently, I do not do nude/lingerie shoots of any sorts.
- I am easy going, flexible, down to earth and easy to work with. If there is a specific theme or idea or look that you need or you would like to try to achieve I would be more than happy to work with you.
- I will only work with you if I feel that you are professional and mature, that you will respect scheduling arrangements, arrive on time and have a positive attutde and love being in front of the camera.
- Before the shoot, a model release that will allow me to photograph you, use the images for my portfolio promotion and for my stock collection must be signed (electronic copy available upon request for your review)
- If you look young, I will ask you to show me your ID. I will not photocopy or in any way store an image of your ID, but I must be assured that you are over 18. This is done for your protection as a model.
- If you are under 18 and you want to model, I will be more than happy to work with you only and only if your parent is present at the shoot and all appropriate release and consent forms are signed.
- If we click as a team, we'll definitely follow up with more elaborate, involved projects.
Important FYI on models being late:
One of the biggest curses of being a photographer is that models show up late. Let me tell you one thing: I am fed up with this.
If you are not on time, you are late! And if you are late, you come across as immature, irresponsible, disrespectful and unprofessional.
I always prepare for the shoot, as I am sure any photographer does. I prepare way ahead of time. The day before the shoot, I charge up batteries, double check the equipment, prepare releases, make sure I have spares of everything, put together shot lists and pack the props. On the day of the shoot, I get up/leave the house as early (if not earlier) as you do, I am always there 15-20 minutes earlier to doublecheck the light and shooting spots. I always have my cell phone on. Bottom line is: as a photographer, I respect your time and effort, and I come prepared and on time. Do have professional and personal courtesy to do the same for me.
I always provide models with information about the location and the address. Be responsible to look it up in your email. Print it out, write it down. Get on google and get directions. Print them out and follow them. Leave home in time to arrive to the location on time. You may miss a turn or get stuck in traffic. I understand that this is life and it may happen. I am always happy to wait 10-15 minutes, if I have to. After 15 minutes, I will leave and I will never want to work with you again.
TFCD implies reciprocity. Models, your photographer is spending time preparing for the shoot, getting there on time, and then hours and hours uploading images for your review and post-processing. Please respect it.
Over time, I've gathered a long list of models who have arrived late, unprepared or didn't show at all. This blacklist, along with highly unfavorable recommendation, is available to any fellow photographer upon request.
For hair and make up artists:
I keep a file of hair and make up artists, whose services I may need, occasionally. Drop me a line with your info and I will contact you whenever I have a relevant project coming up. If you are just starting your career, I will offer you a TFCD deal, for more experienced artists, a payment will be negotiated depending on complexity of the project and your experience.
